Weeping Woman/Re-Make project

Collaboration Dasha Lushnikova (2012)

The Weeping woman project was initiated to participate in the Booooooom art blog's Masterpiece re-make project. The Weeping Woman portrait by Pable Picasso appealed to me because of the possibilities it granted for re-interpretation. I was mainly interested in re-producing his use of cold and warm coloring and the hues' flattering effects when applied alongside Cubism. I thought that Picasso's application of these painterly effects could be investigated in an interesting manner through the contrast of actor and mask. I think the result provided an interesting perspective on different ways we can see a familiar piece of art.
